There aren't many states where you can watch both the sun rise and sun set over water. Michigan falls into this category, and it's been a goal of mine for the last few years to make it happen. When a planned trip to New Hampshire fell through due to a bout of appendicitis striking the ride planner, several of us decided to take advantage of the opportunity to ride around the coast of the Michigan Lower Peninsula.

Overnight at the Salt Fork (OH) State Park PDF Print E-mail

A couple of weeks ago I took the motorcycle for a long ride through Ohio, eventually ending up at Salt Fork State Park, near Cambridge, OH. The trip itself was invigorating and rejuvenating. I was deeply in need of a little bit of solo time. Sleeping under the stars is one of my favorite things to do, even when it's so cloudy that there are no stars to be seen.

A late summer weekend in Michigan provided a great opportunity to cross one of my "want to" motorcycle trips off my personal to-do list. Over 500 miles on my motorcycle and a sore butt were well worth the price to see some of the beautiful Michigan coastline as a riding partner and I travelled around the "thumb" of Michigan.
