Here is a Google Map with Markers showing the locations of our past trips. Each year we try to hit a different National Forest, although we have repeated some. We're still working on reconstructing our timeline and National Forests camped each year, and working on adding them to the map. Keep checking back as we add more!

After brunch with the extended family last weekend, the boys' Uncle invited them out for a hike in El Dorado Canyon State Park. Given that the boys are crazy about their uncle (Grandma complains that she drops off the radar when he's around!), it was a no brainer, we were in.  We didn't have a lot of time, so we selected a short, easy hike. Given that one of the boys isn't a great hiker yet (read more to see the pics and guess which one), it was the perfect choice.

This is one of my personal favorites. Won't work over an open fire... you'll need a griddle or pan. You will also need a cup with a thin rim, or something similar (like a round cookie cutter).

A late summer weekend in Michigan provided a great opportunity to cross one of my "want to" motorcycle trips off my personal to-do list. Over 500 miles on my motorcycle and a sore butt were well worth the price to see some of the beautiful Michigan coastline as a riding partner and I travelled around the "thumb" of Michigan.

Having lived three years in Columbia, Missouri, I can say that the Mark Twain National Forest (MTNF) is one of the prettiest, alluring, and peaceful of the National Forests I've been in (which is quite a few). One of my favorite memories involves hiking through the forest with a good friend and mentor, hunting down the numerous natural springs in the Ozarks. While its sometimes a slog to get there, the reward is always worth it.
