Marc to make dry run in ‘Baru for weight and gear packing Possibly do Mt. Elbert on Wednesday – if it goes well, consider Mt. Massive on Thursday? Trail snack foods during hike, otherwise, regular food stuffs Gear-wise: Marc has chairs, tents, extra sleep pad, grill, cook stoves, mess kits, weenie roasters, fishing poles, Suggestion to pack bladders from hydration packs into checked bag to avoid risk of confiscation Recommend windbreaker-type jacket for waterproofing and non-fleece (down-type) jacket for night Revel Cloud from REI is what Marc has – keeps you warm, even when wet; windproof Watch the weather and pack accordingly – could be warm during the day Average low is 34 at night Fleece hat and gloves suggested – dress in layers, especially for hike Sunscreen Marc to buy some tarps prior to trip; possibly another stove, too If buying new boots, be sure to break them in before the trip Coach to see if bow saw fits in pack Menu: brats, bag-o-eggs, steaks, chicken fajitas, chili (Friday night) Breakfasts: W (pancakes, sausage), Th (bag-o-eggs, biscuits, gravy), F (breakfast burritos), Sat (Danish/on road) Lunch: T (Podunk), W (power bar, trail mix), Th (drunken chicken, cornbread), F (bleu cheese burgs, chips) Dinner: T (brats), W (Fajitas), Th (Steaks, spuds), F (chili, fritos) Snacks: Chips, trail mix, snack crackers, veggies?
